A Baker's Dozen
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, we were thinking about listing some
of the better books for sale in the newsletter. Here is our first list:
- Nevin, David, The Texans: What They Are - and Why, William Morrow & Company, Inc., New York, 1968. First edition. Inscribed by the author. The book is fine. The dust jacket is price clipped with a small (3/16") tear at the lower spine and could use a bit of cleaning with a damp cloth. $30.00.
- Hendrickson, Kenneth E., Jr., The Waters of the Brazos, A History of the Brazos River Authority 1929-1979, Texian Press, 1979. The book is new in its original shrink-wrap packaging.
- Fanning, Buckner, God Drives a Pickup Truck, Millennia Graphics, Colorado Springs, CO, 1999. First edition paper back. The book is new and is signed by the author. Fanning is Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio.$12.00.
- Kincaid, Jamaica, Annie John, Farrar Straus Giroux, New York, 1985. First edition. The book appears to be in new condition.$35.00.
- Capote, Truman, A Christmas Memory, Alfred A Knopf, New York, 1956. Third printing. Illustrated by Beth Peck. Book is very fine. Dust jack is fine with some rubbing on the edges.$12.00.
- Murrah, David J., C. C. Slaughter: Rancher, Banker, Baptist, The
University of Texas Press, Austin, TX, 1981. First edition. Inscribed by
the author. Book is number 15 in the M.K. Brown Range Life Series. Book is
fine and the dust jacket has some edge wear. The book also contains some
maps and photographs.$20.00.
- Zamoyska-Panek, Christine, with Fred Benton Holmberg, Have You
Forgotten? A Memoir of Poland 1939 - 1945, Doubleday, New York, 1989. First
edition. Signed by Zamoyska-Panek. A story of her work in the Polish
underground during and immediately after WW-II. Contains numerous family
photographs. Book is fine, dust jacket is very fine. $20.00.
- Conner, Bart, with Coach Paul Ziert, Winning the Gold, Warner Books,
1985. First edition. Signed by Conner. The story of Conner's Olympic Gold
Medal triumph and an at home parent-supervised athletic training program.
$25.00.
- Fletcher, Inglis, The Scotswoman, Bobbs-Merril Co., 1954. Limited,
signed first edition. The book is very good. The dust jacket fair. there
some tears and a piece of the jacket at the top of the spine is missing.
$30.00.
- George-Warren, Holly (Editor), Garcia, Rolling Stone Press, Little,
Brown, Great Brittan, 1995. First Edition. A large format book chronicling
the life of Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. Book and dust jacket are
overall very fine. $18.00
- Moore, Vardine (Editor), Mice Are Rather Nice, Antheneum, New York,
1981. First edition. Poems about mice with decorations by Doug Jamison.
Inscribed by Moore. The inscription is dated "1918". Book and price
clipped dust jacket are over all fine with some slight curling to the top of
the dust jacket and a small water stain at the top of the cover. $35.00.
- Sharma, Partap, The Surangini Tales, Harcourt Brace Janovich, New York,
1973. First edition. A series of tales with illustrations by Demi Hitz.
Book and dust jacket are very fine overall. $15.00.
- Scheer, George F. & Rankin, Hugh F., Rebels and Redcoats, The Living
Story of the American Revolution, World Publishing, New York, 1953. First
Edition. A series of eye witness accounts of individuals who participated
in the Revolutionary War. Book is solid. The dust jacket has edge wear some
small tears and rubbing. $35.00.
Well there they are! They will be sold on a first call basis. That is you
call me at 512-288-2137 (Between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM) with your selection
and the first caller gets the book. I do not have an answering machine,
caller ID, or call waiting so keep trying. Shipping costs are $3.00 at the
U.S. Post Office book rate. Other arrangements such as pick up at the main
library, or faster mail, can be made at the time of your call.
