New Non-profit Web Site

New Non-profit Web Site

On July 12th the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Austin hosted a seminar to demonstrate a new web site that will enable non-profit operations, like ours, to interface with the business community. The City of Austin has eliminated the requirement for non-profits to obtain a solicitation permit to operate in the city. This decision was possible because the BBB web site acts as a clearing house, providing profiles of corporations and non-profit organizations. Over 33 major businesses have already signed up as sponsors in the program.

After we enter basic information about ourselves (purpose, 501-3c statement, finances, officers, etc.), we will be able to identify and contact businesses that would be interested in our programs. The business, in turn, would go to the BBB web site and review our records to determine the validity of our request. This way we will not have to submit paper documents to support the request, as the information will already be available online. Board members David Capshaw and Quinten Fennessy will be working to get our information into the BBB web site.
