The annual Outstanding Service Award was presented to Connie Moore. Connie
had served on the board for several years, has been a stalwart on the
basement crew, and serves as our volunteer coordinator for the annual book
sale. Her dedication to the Friends sets and example that we can only hope
to emulate.
Our intrepid web page designer, and Austin Public Library's Webmaster,
Carlos Lowry, was honored on July 10th at the American Library Association
Conference in Chicago for his design of the APL Web Pages. The L. Percy
Awards honor outstanding publicity materials produced by libraries serving
populations of different sizes. To encourage participation of libraries of
all types and sizes, entry categories vary from year to year. This year's
categories included Annual Reports, Library Service Brochures, Program
Announcements, Materials/Book Lists, and Web Pages.
You can check out Carlos's handiwork at our web site http://www.main.org/friends
or the APL's site at http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library. Congratulations, Carlos!
