The following slate of officers and board members will presented for your
approval at the annual meeting:
President: Kenneth P. LaRonde, current president and bard member since 1995.
A transplanted Yankee, Ken is a former adjunct faculty instructor in
management for Park College. Ken received his BFA from Wayne State
University, his MBA from St. Edward's University, and is retired from the
USAF. He is married with two grown children and collects first edition
mysteries and antique pistols.
Vice President: David Capshaw, board member since 1998. David has a BSEE
degree from Rice University and currently designs computer software for
Metrowerk. He and his two children have lived in Austin since 1982.
Treasurer: Edward Burns, current treasurer and board member since 1992. A
native Texan, he graduated from the University of Texas in 1935. Ed is a
retired CPA who enjoys reading westerns.
Secretary: Lillian Voss, current secretary and board member since 1998. A
retired nurse who has lived in Austin since 1966, she was raised and
educated in St. Louis, MO. She is also a longtime member of the basement
crew and loves children's books.
To fill board vacancies:
Phyllis Tinsley Todaro. Born and educated in California, Phillis comes from
a family of libararians. She was instrumental in starting the library at St.
Austin's School and is a member of the Tuesday morning basement crew.
Phyllis is married with three children (one a librarian) and two
grandchildren and collects books on embroidery and needlework.
Quenten Fennessy. Quenten moved to Austin in 1991. He received a BA in
Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts and has been employed
at Advanced Micro Devices since 1996, where he is part of the Athlon
development team. He is married and has a four-year-old daughter.
Kim Lindrow. Holding a BS Degree from the University of Minnesota, Kim is an
editor and project manager for LANWrights, a computer-oriented writing and
consulting firm in Austin. She is a board member and volunteer for Useful
Wild Plants, Inc., a non-profit organization that is publishing a 12-volume
encyclopedia of the uses of plants native to the southern United States and
northern Mexico.
Denise Brady has been serving on the Friends Board in an unofficial capacity
since last summer. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and has a
JD from the University of Texas. She has lived in Austin for thirteen years
and is an attorney advocating for people with developmental disabilities.
Denise loves keeping up with the latest fiction and has facilitated a book
discussion group for eight years. She also works with abused children and
has been a "Big Sister" to a young girl for six years. Her dream is to one
day own a children's bookstore.
John Laakso and Al Heinrich will continue to serve on the board.
As you can see, we have room for additional members. If you are interested

accept nominations for any position at the annual meeting.
