This page is maintained specifically for those organizations publishing at MAIN. If you are not publishing at MAIN this page could be a little confusing. More documentation will be added as we introduce new services. Remember to bookmark this page.

    Please remember to add a link back to the MAIN home page from your home page. You can use this graphical button if you wish.
    Main link 1

    Add this code to your website:
    <a href="http://www.main.org">
    <IMG SRC="http://www.main.org/images/mainicon1.jpg" ALT="Main link 1">
    </a>

    Or you can use one of these, substituting the correct number in the above code:
    Main link 2
    mainicon2.jpg

    Main link 3
    mainicon3.jpg

    Main link 4
    mainicon4.jpg

star Client Mailing List

When organizations set up an account with MAIN (publish a web site) we add them to our clients@main.org mailing list. This list is used by MAIN to communicate with organizations (clients) publishing at MAIN. Mostly you can expect announcements of new services.

star Documents About Publishing at MAIN

This is the same information you get by selecting the Free Web Pages option on the MAIN Home page. We thought it might come in handy.

star FTP Instructions

Here is every thing you need to know about your FTP account at MAIN.

star Usage Logs

A good way to see how much your pages are being used. Select a month and then scroll down the report until you start seeing your directory. The directory/page activity information is the last section in the report.

Here is an example of what the Nonprofit Center's activity looks like:

    %Reqs %Byte  Bytes Sent  Requests   Archive Section
    ----- ----- ------------ -------- |-------------------- ------
     0.02  0.00        27888       28 | /nonprofit/
     0.02  0.01        48676       24 | /nonprofit/center.htm
     0.01  0.01        40020       15 | /nonprofit/partner.ht m
     0.02  0.01        65550       28 | /nonprofit/services.h tm

star Adding Forms To Your Web Pages

Now you can add forms for comments, membership applications, conference registrations, surveys and much more.

star Page Hit Counter Documentation

Just in case you can't remember how to add a hit counter to your page, or want to see the new font options.

star Optimizing Your Web Site

This page talks about things you can do to improve your web site's indexing with MAIN's and other search engines.

star HTML Reference Guide

A collection of good reference resources on the Internet, or at MAIN.

Want some help picking an HTML editor?
Here are some we like. This is a mix of freeware, shareware and commercial software. Don't judge a package by its price. Arachnophilia, for example, is a very nice Windows 95 HTML editor that is FREE.

If you have Microsoft Office 97
All of the applications in Office 97 will save as HTML. You may find this a good solution for designing web pages.
