The Rockdale Elemenetary School serves 860 students in grades PK-5. programs include Gifted and Talented, ESL, Special Education, Dyslexia, Summer School, Reading Recovery, Computer Curriculum Corporation, Fine Arts, HOTS, DARE and UIL Literary Events.

Parents involvement is encouraged. A VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) Organization, the PTO (Parents, Teachers Organization) and a Parent Liaison are available on the campus. Two scheduled parent conferences are held each year during a student release day.

Rockdale Elementary stresses academics. It was chosen to participate in the Partnership School Initiative from 1992-1996. Governor Ann Richards designated it as a Gold Star School in 1995. Texas Monthly honored the school with a Three Star Rating. The school received a Recognized rating on their AEIS indicators for the 1997-98 school year.
