Stewart, Laura Patlove, Dorothy Spearman, Emory Washington, Tom Hatch, and Willie Leonard. Old Business ---------------------------------------------------------------------- June 6 and June 15 minutes reviewed and approved. Chair's Report ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Downs Field project is moving along nicely. 2. "National Night Out" is coming up August 1. Neighborhoods might want to plan individual block parties, or attend a gathering at the Rivera's house. 3. A wealth of discussion following the last Redeemer Church meeting has led to a decision on the part of Redeemer Task Force to hold another Task Force meeting in order to discuss future action. At this point in time, the last letter sent to Redeemer, stating that the neighborhoods want mixed use on the Featherlight property, is still in effect. Mt Zion Baptist Church Presentation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Mt Zion Baptist Church, a longstanding member of the Harvey community, presented its plans for further development of its real estate on East 12th and 13th streets as previously approved by the Rosewood Neighborhood Contact Team. There are three areas of development: 1. The church would like to change the zoning of lots 2935 and 2637 E. 13th street from SF3 to GO in order to use that area for parking lots serving the church's growing resource centers. Currently one of those lots is empty; the other has a house that will be moved across the street. The parking will be accessed by 12th street to relieve congestion in the Harvey neighborhood. 2. In order to fully use the lot space, Mt Zion is also requesting a setback variance of 0 ft (it is currently 25'). The church plans to build a privacy fence around the parking lot, as well as maintain a 3 ft green barrier between the fence and parking spaces. They also plan to approach their neighbors for their opinions on said lot. The lot will be closed off when the church is not in use. 3. The church presented its plans to tear down the dilapidated structure between the sanctuary and Harvey street, and replace that structure with a new building that will house educational and recreational buildings associated with the church, but open to the larger community. Neighborhood Watch Training ---------------------------------------------------------------------- APD Officers Beck and Romo presented Neighborhood Watch Materials to the Rosewood group in order to start neighborhoods on building their own NW programs. A lot of useful information of protected your home and neighbors was covered. If you are interested in building a NW program, or reading through the material, contact an individual from your neighborhood association who was present at the meeting (all of the neighborhoods were represented). *meeting adjourned*
