Topic of crime was discussed and David Nuhn expressed view that to way to reduce crime was to know neighbors to know each other.  AND THAT THE AUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT CAN ONLY RESPOND TO THE NON-VIOLENT CRIME AFTER THE FACT.

Jessica Curry mentioned that Block Captains were needed for neighborhood watch.

Dale Sellers mentioned that neighborhood watch groups need to be visible.

A.J. Walker mentioned alert system for every 2 houses using warning strobe light alarm.

THE PURPOSE OF THE STROBE LIGHT SYSTEM IS TO ALERT JOINING NEIGHBORS OF POSSIBLE INTRUDERS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH OUT SOUNDING AN ALARM.  A GOOD STROBE COULD BE SEEN FROM ABOUT A HALF BLOCK IN THE DAY AND AT LEAST A BLOCK AT NIGHT.

David Nuhn described a tier of things that can be done such as general meeting for ideas on Neighborhood watch such as general meeting 30-60 days for suggestions from members of the neighborhood.  David expressed the need for neighborhood participation.

IT WAS AGREED THAT WE TRY TO GET OFFICER COOPER TO ATTEND OUR MEETING TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD RIGHTS AS HOME OWNERS AND ANY THING THAT HE MIGHT HELP US WITH.

 2.   Neighborhood meetings:

A special neighborhood meeting was scheduled for Sunday, October 26th at 2 p.m. at the Johnson’s.  (Larie Amsler will contact the Johnsons)  The purpose of the meeting is to get ideas from members of the neighborhood with reinforcement that broad participation is key theme for the meeting.  There was discussion of Jessica Curry preparing flyer and further discussion on planning signs advertising the meeting.
