July and August 2004
Besides getting a paint job on the outside, the playscape was removed and the side yard looks different!
Volunteers
As always, we still have a great need for volunteers. Administrative work is having to wait because there are not enough volunteers to man the front desk and our patronage is growing more and more - up to 20-30 a day visit us. The Youth next door from the Community Center have been helpful. Sandi couldn't have made it without them.
We have had two new volunteers join us. Ian Thomas is helping process materials in to the computer database until school starts at which time he will resume tutoring and mentoring. Sophie Torres comes in on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help. She many times stays past the end of her shift to help. Jim is taking work from the Library to his shaved ice stand and helping out by jacketing and labeling videos we are adding to the collection. As you can see, there are many ways to help out and Sandi will work with you to make it possible for you to help us!
Here's a picture of Sophie.
We will be having a volunteer training meeting fairly.

Our Annual Book sale during Lion Fest will be held on September 18. The Library will be closed to patrons on the 17th and the 18th. Many volunteers will be packing books into cartons on Friday afternoon and getting up early Saturday morning to set up the booth. We need to report to the Library at 6:30 am (yes, 6:30) to carry the books over to the Booth and set up the tables.
