Auto theft and break-ins are big business!

Almost 1.2 million motor vehicles are stolen in the United States a year-- that's 3,193 everyday or one every 27 seconds.*

The odds of a vehicle being stolen were one in 196--and those odds re even higher in urban areas.  You might have insurance, but insurance can't cover the emotional cost or the loss of time.  In other words, insurance can't make you feel less violated if a stranger steals something that belongs to you; something you've worked hard for.  And insurance can't do anything about all the time you'll have to spend filing police reports, finding other transportation, and looking for a new car to buy.  And buying a car becomes especially tough as you try to shake the thought of your new car being stolen.

While no one is immune to car thieves, a car doesn't have to be tempting to a thief.  What can you do?

Use anti-thief devices or purchase after market anti-thief devices if your car did not come with one.

Never put an identification tag on your keys.

Don't keep your car and house keys on the same ring and don't hide a spar set of keys, in or on your car.
